Music Beyond Mainstream (MBM) is made up of its member venues who have a direct relationship with their local audiences. It is the member venues who, with their understanding of local needs, decide what music and artists they will tour as MBM. We meet quarterly to look at ideas and decide what could be developed into future tours. From deciding to develop a proposal it usually takes a minimum of 6 months to get it on the road.
Projects may be proposed by member venues themselves or by artists and their representatives or other producers/promoters. If you are a musician, represent an artist or are a producer or promoter and have a proposal for a tour of distinctive music appropriate for large (1,100 + seats) regional concert halls then please let us know what your idea is.
We are also interested in working with musicians who might be seeking to develop new work or perhaps collaborate with other artists and MBM would be happy to consider ideas for comissions related to proposals for a tour.
MBM venues can also collaborate on "mainstream" projects that would benefit from a network of venues that have direct relationship with their audiences and from a joind up approach to production and promotion.
We currently have tours scheduled in MBM venues without confirmed projects in the following periods:
November 2012
March 2012
May 2013
October 2013
November 2013
MBM venues meet four times a year to consider ideas and proposals. The next meeting will be on 22nd March 2012. We need to receive information on potential projects by 9th March 2012.
